KAMPALA, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Nigerian winger Odili Chukwuma said he is thrilled to begin a new chapter with Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC.

The 23-year-old has signed a two-year contract with the Ugandan club as they seek to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2025-26 season.

"I am very excited to join SC Vipers, and I cannot wait to get started and help the team win many more titles. I am very hungry to perform and play a major role for my new team to achieve success," Chukwuma told Xinhua on Monday.

Chukwuma joins the seven-time Uganda Premier League and four-time Uganda Cup winners from Rwanda Police FC.

"Playing in Uganda will not be a problem for me because I am a professional and always know what to expect. I played in Rwanda before and the atmosphere is not very different," he added.

Vipers SC, who clinched both the 2024-25 Uganda Premier League and Uganda Cup titles, has also appointed experienced Belgian head coach Ivan Minnaert.

The club is aiming to defend its domestic titles and advance to the group stage of the CAF Champions League, which kicks off in September. ■
