ISTANBUL, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Türkiye on Monday issued detention orders for eight suspects allegedly involved in stock market manipulation on the country's exchange entity, Borsa Istanbul.

A major investigation uncovered abnormal fluctuations in the trading volume and stock prices of certain capital market instruments in Borsa Istanbul, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office said in a statement, adding that the eight suspects manipulated shares of Atlantis Investment Holding, leading to artificial price movements that harmed small investors.

The suspects are facing charges of "establishing a criminal organization with the aim of committing an offense" and "market fraud," the office said.

According to the state-run Anadolu Agency, security forces launched simultaneous operations in Istanbul, Kocaeli, Antalya, and Zonguldak provinces to apprehend the suspects following the warrants. ■
